This last week

Jeremy after he broke his board
We have a spider living on our clothes line

So I haven't posted anything this last week, mostly because nothing that exciting has happened. Jeremy lead worship during the morning service for the first time this Sunday and he did a great job. Children's ministry is going well, no new news there. We have been talking a lot with friends an family back home this last week and it has been so great to be able to see and talk with them over the internet. It helps so much with feeling home sick.
Jeremy broke his surfboard already but has gotten it fixed. We have been seeing more bugs and gross things the last little while. We have been running into many cockroaches waiting for us at night at our front door, and I have been told that it gets even worse.
Jeremy's birthday is coming up on Sunday so I'm sure I will have a better post for you all then.

Young Adults Camp

Over the weekend Jeremy and I attended a young adults camp that our church went on. It was a great time of fun and learning. We heard some fantastic messages and had some great prayer time. We got to meet a lot of new young adults that go to our church. It was a pretty warm weekend so we spent time at the beach and played games with water balloons. Unfortunately  Jeremy and I had to leave a night early and miss the last session to be back at church for Sunday morning so that I could be at Sunday school and Jeremy could play in the worship band. We have been so blessed with the preaching at Subiaco. We have now heard all 4 pastors speak  and they are all amazing. If you ever come to visit Subi you can be confident that no matter who's speaking it will be a great Sunday.

Moore River and Yanchep

On Monday we went to a national park called Yanchep. It was so cool. We went in the evening and all the kangaroos were out. There were hundreds of them every where. They let us get pretty close to them but we couldn't close enough to touch them. Yanchep also is the biggest reserve for koalas in Western Australia. There were so many of them in the trees. Most of them were sleeping but we did find one that was awake and eating. It was one of the best days off that we have had so far.

This Monday we made another trip to Moore River and this time it was even better then before. We went with a group of 9 people in the afternoon. We found a man who lent us canoes and we went down the river to some sand dunes. Our friends all brought sand boards and we had so much fun riding down the dunes and straight into the water. Unfortunately I didn't want to bring my camera in the canoe incase it got wet so I didn't get any photos. It was so beautiful though, we saw some huge pelicans and some other birds that I can't name.Upload Image

Kids Style Worship/Friendship Sunday

This Sunday was a very busy day at church. It was kids style worship in the main church. The worship team played all kids songs and the kids got on stage to do actions. Jeremy had a great time playing the songs. It was also Friendship Sunday, which is when the kids bring their friends to church and instead of doing a lesson we do something really fun and different. This time we had a pool party at the pool across from the church. Since I was in charge of running it I was at the church from 8:30-12:00 setting up and playing games with the kids. It was a long day in the sun but so much fun. The kids had a great time, I think they wish every Sunday was like that.

Rain in Perth

Today we had our first cold, rainy day since we have been in Perth and oh man was it ever raining. I have to say it was a nice break from the heat (we don't have air conditioning so it is usually very hot in our apartment) but I don't think I would want it to last longer then one day.
I have been busy this week planning Friendship Sunday. It is a day where the kids at the church invite  their friends to come to church with them. We are doing Kids Style Worship in the main church and then we are heading over to a swimming pool across the street to have a pool party. It is looking like it will be a very fun day for the kids, and a very busy day for me. I feel like it is a lot for me to do when I have so little experience with children but I have been blessed with some great people to help me out.
Jeremy is still loving worship ministry and comes home every day really excited about something new they have planned for the young adults service or some great conversation he had with someone at the church. Since we have been here he has been playing at all three services on Sunday but this week he doesn't have to actually lead any of them and he is looking forward to a little break (even though he will still be playing guitar). He has been talking with another guy at the church who plays piano and singings and they are thinking about playing some gigs around our area (just for fun....and a little extra money) just like he used to do at home. I think he is pretty excited about getting that started.
We are both missing family and friends at home. I'm really missing Landon, our nephew, today. I know that he has already gotten a lot bigger since we have left. I can't wait until he comes to visit. We are thinking of you all daily. Please keep sending e-mails we love to hear about what's going on with everyone.

Worship and Children's Ministry

       Sunset at Cott Beach

So yesterday was my first day of teaching at Sunday school. I was very nervous going into the day even though I have so much amazing help. I think I worked it up to be this big scary thing but it wasn't scary at all. I actually had a lot of fun with the kids. I still have a lot of learning to do but I'm not as nervous about it anymore. I work with kids in grades 1-6 so it can be a bit tricky to think of activities that they all will like but I'm sure with time I will learn.
Jeremy got to lead worship for the second time at the young adults service in the evening. He did amazing! He has taught the band a few new songs and they have also taught him a few. The young adults service is in a smaller building  right next to the main church. It has a really cool, funky feel to it and Jeremy and his mentor Timon are working hard at making it even better. Jer is really excited for all the new things he will get to do this year with Timon and we will keep you updated as those things start to happen.

Today was  our day off (Monday) and it also happened to be the super bowl. A big group of us went over to the senior pastors house to watch it at 8am! It was a little early for me but fun none the less. The senior pastor, Graham, is American and so were a few of the others that were there so it got a little intense sometimes. haha. After the game was over we decided to go relax at the beach. Jeremy went surfing with his new surfing friends Josh and Ronnie while I went swimming and read my book. It was a great way to end a very busy weekend.

Moore River

Playing football

The river is the closest and the ocean is just past the sand.

We went to Moore River earlier this week with a group of people from our church. It was really cool. The river and ocean are right by each other, only separated by a thin strip of sand. We went swimming, played football and just had an amazing day. The girls met the guys at the river in the afternoon (they had gone earlier to go surfing). We made a picnic lunch and lay in the sun. I know so far I have only wrote about our days off and will write more about the ministry as we get a bit more into it.
Tomorrow is my first Sunday of helping teach Sunday school and I have to say I am a little bit nervous (having never worked with kids or been to Sunday school before). Jeremy is leading worship at the evening young adults service again tomorrow. He is loving it. I will let you know how it all goes. Let's pray I don't scare any children or anything.
